Return to Painting – New Dates
This summer course is an introduction (or refresher) to the materials, techniques and processes of painting. Classes will focus on developing students’ understanding of composition, color theory, space, form and surface. As we progress, students will find their personal style through individual instruction.
Learning to paint takes time and requires patience, reflection and personal motivation. Knowing how to paint develops through the process of observation. Changing one’s point of view can reveal a new and exciting path. Consider this course the beginning of your journey with that process.
Students can expect to:
• Gain an understanding for the material aspects of painting.
• Learn basic painting techniques and processes.
• Develop the language to analyze and critically discuss topics in painting.
• Make personal discoveries through experimentation.
• Strengthen methods of group and self criticism.
• Discover unconventional materials.
