Josette Urso
Josette Urso’s paintings, collages, and drawings address a range of the artist’s interests. Her paintings explore qualities of Urso’s immediate surroundings both in and out of doors. Josette Urso was born in Tampa, Florida and currently lives and works in New York City. She received her BFA/Drawing and MFA/Painting from the University of South Florida.
This is the schedule of workshops she led in November, 2015:
7:30PM Monday ■ November 16 FREE Lecture. Guest Artist in Residence, Josette Urso will present a power point presentation discussing her current involvement with collage, oil painting and drawing while also commenting on the evolution her work has taken.

COLLAGE TO PAINTING Workshop with Josette Urso
Young Adults & Adults
This workshop takes a lively approach to exploring the interrelationship between collage and painting while stressing the importance of intuition, play and experiment. Working from a variety of natural and man-made forms (objects provided by the instructor) participants will make cutouts working from observation, memory and imagination. The cutouts will become material for painting and will help generate opportunities for the unexpected. Work will begin simply, becoming progressively more complex as each participant is urged to push the limits of the mediums and their ideas. MATERIALS PROVIDED.

WATERCOLOR AND ABSTRACTION Workshop with Josette Urso
Teens & Adults
Seen as a vehicle for exploration, this course is appropriate for students of all levels. For the beginner, it serves as a superb introduction to the often elusive medium of watercolor. For the more advanced student, abstraction provides a special focus for technique and concept. In a free form fashion, students will explore the layering of washes and the exploration of form and color. Working from observation, memory and invention students will be encouraged to push the limits of the medium. Discover the history and various motivations for abstract image making. MATERIALS PROVIDED.
