Two tourists discover a treasure chest and are magically transported back in time in a fun-filled journey through Florida history. Audiences laugh and learn about Ponce De Leon, Florida’s “almost oldest” city, and the “original” Pocahontas story.
A musical melange of your favorite Broadway hits!
An audience awaits the arrival of a famed matinee idol. While cleaning the performer’s dressing room, two maids discover a stage trunk full of props and costumes. Quickly, it becomes apparent that both are frustrated performers as they begin to fantasize and enact songs and scenes from their favorite productions with the audience. Both enjoy pretending to be ‘paid actors’, but what happens when the “star” shows up to find that his dressing room has been commandeered for this impromptu performance? This hilarious romp is a fun filled escapade from Gilbert and Sullivan to Andrew Lloyd Webber!
In 1980 Ed started his first blues band on Long Island, N.Y. Since relocating to Florida he has shared the stage with many great local players. In addition to writing songs, playing the guitar, and repairing guitars, Ed also finds time to give lessons on guitar, bass, harmonica, and slide guitar. Ed will be joined by another great local musician, Chuck Riley, on bass.

Josette Urso’s paintings, collages, and drawings address a range of the artist’s interests. Her paintings explore qualities of Urso’s immediate surroundings both in and out of doors. Josette Urso was born in Tampa, Florida and currently lives and works in New York City. She received her BFA/Drawing and MFA/Painting from the University of South Florida. Our artist in residence will be with us November 16-21, with multiple opportunities to learn from one of the best!
Rahn Hortman never thought that one day seasoned veterans of comedy would give him personal praise for his own stage show being "refreshing" and "a departure from the norm".
Bill Zapf was injured in a hockey accident up in the Great White North. The former hockey player, skydiver, and bungee jumper has always had a love for comedy and has been making people laugh his entire life.

101.9 WPHX Radio – a project of the Firehouse Cultural Center
/in Community /by FireMarshalOn August 17th, 2015 The Phoenix radio station went on air for the first time. The radio station is located in a small building that was previously used as the backup communications center for the sheriff’s office and is wired to a tower. The station’s organizers Dolores Coe, Sandy Council and Pamela MacDonald were granted a license by the Federal Communications Commission for the noncommercial radio station. Jeff Knauff a local recording studio owner was also enlisted as help. The radio station was then granted $29,970 from the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay South Shore Council and $3,600 from the South County philanthropically group, One Hundred Women Who Care. Ruskin Community Development Foundation chipped in $750 for funding as well.
WPHX is a link to the community and beyond, providing a variety of arts, music, education and information programming that connects people to each other, to ideas, experiences and resources. The station will broadcast performances, workshops, visiting artists, music and special events scheduled at the Firehouse Cultural Center, as well as a variety of programming that engages, informs, educates and inspire listeners.
