The Henry B. Plant Museum presents Upstairs/Downstairs, a museum theater series featuring single character performances that bring turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel staff members and guests to life.
Mr. and Mrs. Bergner, 1890’s.
Open from December to April throughout the 1890s, the Tampa Bay Hotel was a lively place for the elite to visit during the winter social season. Gilded Age visitors Mr. and Mrs. Bergner have arrived to see and be seen, but what should this wealthy duo wear to appear their best?
This humorous performance demonstrates the many layers worn in the 19th century and examines the reasons for this time period’s elaborate clothing and accessories.
