Adult Writing Workshop at the Ruskin Branch Library
Led by novelist Laura Lee Smith, these writing “workouts” will offer exercises and tips that will help participants find inspiration and energy to feed their writing projects. Session will feature two or three prompts, along with time for writing and discussion. This is one of the three (3) sessions which will be held during the week. Teacher Institute: Creative Writing & Publication at the Firehouse Cultural Center
An interactive workshop on the writing process and ideas on how to encourage young people to incorporate writing into the their lives. Plus a how to navigate the path to publication. Topics covered will include different “tiers” of book publishers, the current publishing market, the digital influence, and the importance of a literary agent.
Saturday, March 7, 1:30 – 3:00 PM
Celebration Reading at the Firehouse Cultural Center
During the writing exercises and consultations, Ms. Smith will identify strong segments from each writer’s work and invite them ( if they are interested ) to participate in a public reading of their work. Refreshments provided.
