Monday, March 2, 2015 – Friday, March 6, 2015
Location: Firehouse Cultural Center
Event type: Special Events
During the Firehouse Cultural Center’s “Spring Forward” Writers Week, novelist Laura Lee Smith will meet with TEN (10) aspiring writers to discuss excerpts from their work. Private manuscript consultations will offer writers of any skill level the opportunity to connect with an experienced reader, writer, and teacher, and to receive Smith’s feedback on strengths and opportunities for improvement in their work. Submissions of fiction, memoir, and creative nonfiction are welcome.
Manuscripts must be submitted in advance, and consultation times will be scheduled to occur during the week of March 2 – 6.
Writers will emerge from the consultations with a written critique of their work and with ideas and inspiration for taking the project to the next level.
Ten consultation slots available; slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Writers may reserve a consultation slot by calling Firehouse Cultural Center. A $50 manuscript consultation fee will be charged, with proceeds benefiting the Firehouse Cultural Center Literary Series.
Once spot is reserved, writers will submit up to 20 pages of a manuscript, plus a one-page synopsis, to the Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 1st Avenue NE, Ruskin, FL 33570, or by email in PDF format to email hidden; JavaScript is required.
Manuscripts must be double-spaced, with 12-point fonts.
