Beginning Mosaic Class

Instructor: Elise Passentino

You will explore the basic techniques to create art using various types of stained glass and ceramic tiles. Learn the safe and proper techniques for cutting glass using wheeled nippers, running pliers, and other various glass cutting tools. Learning to use a glass grinder to shape glass will be taught as well. Students will explore different substrates such as wood or cement steppingstones. Methods for this class will include demonstrations, hands on practice, and one-on-one coaching from the instructor.
Materials: Although most basic supplies are provided for this course, participants may bring their own small base for their art. Various bases will be discussed in class as well as where to purchase additional mosaic supplies to augment a student’s mosaic creation.

Four Weeks, 2.5-hour Class: Wednesdays 9:30 am – 12:00 pm.
