Grades 4 – 6. Fun & creative art activities. Each week a different activity. Walk-ins welcome. Reservations recommended. Space is limited.

This is a multi-level class for anyone who would like to explore acrylic painting. Work with representational painting, abstraction and collage while improving skills with color, composition and techniques. A fun, flexible class for all students.

Students will learn and explore: color (complementary colors, analogous colors, the chromatic richness of neutrals); brush strokes (from flat and variegated washes to dancing with your brushes); techniques (from wet-into-wet to spattering, pouring, spraying, stenciling, scrubbing).

This free program gives teens the unique opportunity to create their art alongside a different professional working artist from the community every month. Our artists will guide you to use new mediums & techniques and inform you about careers as an artist. All supplies included. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art. This class made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Lightning Foundation.

During these six sessions you will have the opportunity to write in the many varied styles of non-fiction, from memoir, to history, to current events and persuasive essays, with a dash of journalism. Your writing will be based in truth, reality, and facts…it will be your view of your life, of the world, based on your experiences.

Circus props and more are transformed into objects of scientific concern and fascination to stimulate thought, interest and a better understanding of science for grade K through 5.

Understanding Poetry by John Davis Jr. will help participants derive meaning from poems old and new. In this presentation, essential elements of poetry such as rhyme, meter, and diction will be examined, and participants will learn common forms of poems.
