Laura Lee Smith’s first novel, Heart of Palm, was released by Grove Press in April 2013. Her short fiction was selected by guest editor Amy Hempel for inclusion in New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2010. Her work has also appeared in The Florida Review, Natural Bridge, Bayou and other journals. She has taught creative writing at Flagler College and works as an advertising copywriter. This is a short story writing class taught by Laura Smith. November 5th, Laura Smith will be signing copies of her book, Heart of Palm, FREE for library card holders!

Step up to the plate as the Mudville 9 take the field in this stage adaptation of Ernest L. Thayer’s classic poem about the early days of America’s Past-Time, Baseball. The entire crowd expects Casey to knock in a home run, but has he practiced enough? The audience will learn about the birth of radio, the Women’s Suffrage movement, and about being a good sport.
