 Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 1st Ave NE, Ruskin FL Laura Lee Smith’s first novel, Heart of Palm, was released by Grove Press in April 2013. Her short fiction was selected by guest editor Amy Hempel for inclusion in New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2010. Her work has also appeared in The Florida Review, Natural Bridge, Bayou and other journals. She has taught creative writing at Flagler College and works as an advertising copywriter. This is a short story writing class taught by Laura Smith. November 5th, Laura Smith will be signing copies of her book, Heart of Palm, FREE for library card holders! |

Rahn Hortman has a unique blend of profanity-free banter! He makes pointed observations about everyday people that leaves no one safe. At 5'5 1/2" (don't forget the half) he's still waiting on the NBA to call. Until then, he's become a crowd favorite bringing home the title in the TV Channel 32 Comedy Challenge, Nationally Syndicated Cowhead Competition, and he was a Finalist in Florida's Funniest Comedian. Students learn the basics of wheel throwing by forming and throwing simple shapes on the potter’s wheel. More advanced students will build upon the basics to create larger, more advanced projects. Discover varying throwing techniques, forms and glazing.
