THIS EVENT IS FULL FOR FALL 2019. The Straz Center’s arts education partnership program forges vital alliances between our arts education resources and community organizations. We work with each organization to customize and design a curriculum to specifically address the needs and best benefits for those served by their organization, school, agency or after-school program. We are with our arts education partners on our stages, in our classrooms and in the community.

Teen Open Studio is a free program that gives teens in grades 6 through 12 the opportunity to create, learn, and work alongside local working artists. Teens can learn new techniques, explore new media, take on new themes, and hear about careers in the arts from a new artist every session. All Materials Provided. In Partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art.
Ken Carlyle, T.J Weger, Eric "Flycatcher" Carlson, Don Cox, and Joe Martin - provide an infectious mix of original and classic songs deeply rooted in the styles of Western Swing, Bluegrass, Americana and Zydeco. Somewhere near the intersection of ‘Bon Ton Roulet’ and the ‘Clinch Mountain Back Step’, you will find the Cowboys serving up their musical gumbo.

Learn how to do basic soldering, and the formation of metals into rings, pendants, and bracelets. After you've constructed some pieces, learn torch fire enameling techniques on copper to add color and texture to your designs. 4 Sessions. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art.

Leave the stress behind. An exciting, fun and relaxing class. Learn all about clay; the possibilities are endless with hand building, slab, coil, extrude. Explore surface decoration, texture, stamping and printing design. Included is an introduction to the Potters’ Wheel.

Fire up your creativity and join the fun! Explore the exciting world of clay through a wide range of projects with hand building, an introduction to the potter’s wheel and glazing techniques. Students learn in a supportive setting with individual instruction and inspiration.

This is a multi-level class for anyone who would like to explore acrylic painting. Work with representational painting, abstraction and collage while improving skills with color, composition and techniques. A fun, flexible class for all students.
La Lucha is a Tampa Bay based trio of three best friends from three different parts of the world: Colombia, Mexico, and the United States. Their repertoire is a diverse mixture of Latin-inspired rhythms with jazz standards, twisted arrangements of pop songs, and original compositions. Tonight they bring special guest James Suggs on trumpet.
