James Suggs will be performing selections from his recently released album “You’re Gonna Hear From Me“, alongside area favorite, ‘La Lucha‘ – (Alejandro Arenas, John O’Leary, and Mark Feinman).

James Suggs first album under his name, was recently released on Arbors Records. “You’re Gonna Hear From Me“, was recorded in the summer of 2018 at the legendary Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey and features jazz giants- Lafayette Harris, Lewis Nash, Peter Washington, and jazz legend Houston Person on saxophone as well as album producer.

About James Suggs

James Suggs began playing the trumpet at nine years of age. At fifteen, he started playing professionally with jazz groups in the Northeast Ohio area. Since then James has performed for audiences in Switzerland, Holland, Germany, China, Portugal, England, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, and throughout the United States, to name a few.

In 2005, James was hired as the trumpet soloist in the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. A year later he performed as the soloist with another legendary big band under the direction of Buddy Morrow, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. In 2015, he was awarded the Best of the Bay’s “Best Jazz Transplant“. In May of 2018, he received a Master’s Degree in music- jazz performance from the University of South Florida. Currently, James is an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, where he teaches jazz trumpet and leads jazz ensembles.
